Rest!!

Long overdue...I have been feeling sluggish on my workouts and exhausted in general. I decided to take the day off. Iced my foot and relaxed. After school has started back up so my day is extended another 2 hours! It's not bad but still trying to get into the swing of things. Plan on doing a 5 am bike tomorrow!

100 miles

I biked 100 miles this weekend!!

My alarm was my boyfriend this morning. Had breakfast with my family and hung out. Then went to church. Went to Andrews and then we went to his sisters for her birthday. I then went to workout. I did 30 miles at 18 mph. Just couldn't get going very fast today. After that, I did prone leg curls superset with dumbbell deadlifts x4 25 reps each. Leg ext 4x25!reps with 15 seconds rest. 4x25 abductor/ adductor 15 seconds rest. Then cooked dinner with my man and then went grocery shopping. Whoa! Got home at 9 and had a little time to relax together before bed. Pretty happy about the 100 miles:-) but boy I'm tired and hungry!

Energy?!

I got up at 6:30 and did laundry,dishes and some cleaning. Came to Haubsadt and had breakfast with the fam. Went to the gym and was very energized and ended up biking 40 miles at 19.2 mph. Could have kept going but I think I over did it a bit anyways. Foot has been sore...Ah! Ice..Ice...Ice. I the. Came home had lunch then met Lexie for some shopping. Then ca,e back to Haubstadt for dinner and movie! The Help is such a good movie. I am mentally and physicall drained now. Good night:-)

Ahhh... it's the weekend!

I felt awful at school. Headache like no other. I got through the day, and convinced myself I would feel better if I worked out. I think part of my headache was from dehydration. I decided to just cycle today. Very tired but averaged about 18 mph for 31 miles!

Girls night out at the new sushi place. Yummy! It was nice to go out with the girls.

Came home to Andrew and he had hung up a pallet like I had shown him I liked on Pinterest. I was so shocked and excited!! He even started to decorate it. Wow! He is amazing!!

We stayed up talking and ate some ice cream:-) oops!

Goals..Goals...Goals

The plan was to get up early to get the run over with but it was cold, rainy, and dark. My bed just sounds so much better. Also, at 2:30 am Andrew yells "Lacy!" I was startled and shocked and mumbled out a what...and he decided he needed to say," I love you!" My heart melted. I am so blessed to have found the love of my life and to know he loves me back equally for all I am:-)

My day at school was very busy! But it went by fast. Had a meeting after school as well so I was a little later starting my workout. I was tired and lunch had been too long ago. I did 2.5 warm up on bike then ran 6 miles in 45 min. I kept a good pace pretty relaxed. I was tired and got very bored on the treadmill. I was about to go insane!!! I am ready to have some grass to run on. Come on grass dry out! I then had a functional planned with my mom. I got home and we looked at each other and both go "well, do you really feel like it?" and neither of us did. This would have been workout #2 for both of us and we were both very fatigued and hungry. Decided to be smart and chill out the rest of the night! Good choice:-)

I am debating an early morning bike but not seeing it happen. I think all my training is kicking in because I have been ridiculously tired this week. Maybe getting more than 6.5 hours of sleep would help? Nah, it just won't happen. But I can't complain, my schedule now is so much better than getting up at 3:45 am like I did everyday last year. I am so happy with where my life is. God has blessed me:-) thank you God.

Push Pull, Push Pull!

Decided to do a long cycling session tonight. I did it on the indoor bike, not the spin bike. I watched TV to help with boredom. I struggled with fatigue. I barely made it to the gym, my body is so tired. I decided to get in a decent paced 30 mile ride. I did just that. I average 19 mph for 30 miles!

Foot=sore...I really think its the functional training when I do lunges, jumps, pushups and anything with a flexed toe. I also didn't take ibuprofen. I don't think I am ready to come off of it yet.

Andrew and I stopped at Walmart to pick up some food and head to John and Jana's for supper. Yummy:-)

Run tomorrow? I hope so!

I only did functional today. I am dead tired and it took all I had to push through this. It was a family workout. My mom, Lee and Andrew all joined. My mom is making progress...a lot!!! Here it goes:

The exercises that don't say 25 were stations. Each of us were at one for a minute then went to the next. No rest! Only rest was switching circuits. The 25-25-25-25 were done as fast as you could. We were all sweaty and tired by the end.

This made my foot sore...the burpees, lunges, and anything on my toes caused flexing and pain. Boooo. I guess I would rather these hurt it more than running.

SORE

Wow! Legs just hurt, back hurts. I am loving this soreness:-) however, I could only push through cardio. I did 4 mile warm up on bike 16-17 mph easy. I then did two miles at 7:45 really easy and then needed a potty break. I got back on the treadmill and did a 3 mile tempo in 20 min. I started at 6:40 and it felt so easy I could have held that for 5 miles I think. I should have just kept that pace but no...I kept cutting back. It was good probably a little too much for my foot, but I will ice it and it will be okay. Coming off of ibuprofen so I'm anxious,to see how I feel. I got right back on the bike and biked 15 more miles at about 17.5-18 mph average felt easy, but my legs are shot...completely. Functional tomorrow with my family:-)

One of those days...

I feel like I slept some, I got 8 hours which never ever happens. However, I woke up just feeling blah. My boyfriend came over when he was off work at 7 and we had breakfast and hung with the fam. We didn't go to church, this upset me and I think it may be the reason I had such a bad day. I should never not go to church. No excuses.

Anyways, we did some you tubing for fun workouts. We tend to get bored a lot. We went to the gym and did separate workouts. Mine was...
2.5 mile warm-up on bike
100 kettle ell swings with 30 lb
100 kettle bell squats 20lb each hand
1 arm shoulder press (25 w/ 20lb 15 w/15 lb and 10 w/ 10 lb ( no rest) 50 each arm
50 1 armed swings with 30 lb
50 rows each arm 30 w/35 lb 10 w/ 30 lb and 10 w/ 20 lb ( I was happy with high reps using 35 lb)
100 pliƩ squats with 30 lbs
100 different variations of lunges
50 curl to press each arm 25 w/ 20 15 w/ 15 lb 10 w/ 10 lb
3 miles cool down on bike

Lunch with the family and watched football. Andrew went home and I followed except I made a stop at the gym for yes, a swim!!!

Last year I swam 775 m in 15 min my time trial was 13:45 and a lady got into my lane and swam into me so I stopped I may have done an extra lap bc I lost count and always go back to the last lap. I know it wasn't fast but I was pleased.

Nice relaxing evening with my boy...I love him.

1-21-2012... Workout day at the Y with my Moma!

My mom and I had planned to do a functional training session, but instead went to the Y to lift more weights. I got to use her guest pass; it was fun to go somewhere different. I haven't worked out in 3 years since I worked there. It brought back old memories.

Anyways, we did the following:
3x
15x biceps alt. curls
20 dips (legs up with 25lb. plate)
30 sec. Squat in/outs
No rest one exercise to the next

3x10 Arnold presses 45 sec rest

21's superset with 15 front squatsx 3

3x 15 dumbbell chest press
Rest was the other person rep time

10x hammer curls superset with 10-15-20 step ups
Did this three times

I was proud of my mother. She hit it hard with me. It is fun to have someone to work with, as well. We then went our separate ways. She went to run the track and I got on the bike. Started out slw because I kept having old members that I knew talk to me. Plus, my legs are crazy sore and tired. I ended up getting 20 miles in right at an hour then biked another 6 moderate to easy. I love it that 18-19mph is feeling relaxed.

We then went to the fresh market for some greens :-) and gluten free foods. I have been suffering from major stomach issues for awhile and after reading about gluten intolerances this may be my problem. We will see if it works.

Great day with my mom. I can't express how blessed I am to have such an amazing mother. She is my best friend and I love days like this with her.

Now, the rest of the day I am going to spend with coffee and watching movies. Relaxing these legs!!!:-)

Friday!!!

I wasn't feeling well last night, so I slept in. Felt pretty bad at school today too. I still went to workout. Here it goes:

5 minutes on spin bike
6.3 on the treadmill...
1 mile 7:47 mile 2 7:40 mile 3 7:35 mile 4 7:29 mile 4.5 7:19 from 4.5 on I was sub 7. For the last 12 minutes I cut back every minute. I got down pretty low 6 pace. I felt so relaxed. I want to just bang out some killer workouts but I know speed work and hill work are not good for my foot. I felt it a little around mile 3 but it wasn't sharp and sometimes I feel I may be being too paranoid. No real soreness after. I got in 6.3 in 46 minutesz.

Then hit my leg exercises:
5x15 prone leg curls
5x20 leg ext.
3x15 1 leg squats

Had to cut it short because I had places to be. Zuki and icemans game with my love and friends!!

Tomorrow...
Functional with the mother and hopefully some form of cardio. Focusing on arms tomorrow because legs are shot!

Functional workout with the fam. We killed it. This was kind of my day off...no cardio...although this was a cardio based workout:)lots of fun. So proud of my mom! She is sticking to it and killing it. She just workout with a semi pro football player and a crazy maniac workout woman, hehe. Great family bonding time!

1-18-2011...

Decided to sleep in til 5. This was a very good idea! My foot was pretty swollen last night so I decided to rest it this morning and ice it some more. I believe the soreness came from me tackling my boyfriend for doing something silly. I remember pushing off barefoot with that toe and felt a pain. So lots of ice and ibuprofen should get that swelling back down.

School was good, dibeled and TRCed all day. It's a slow day but I don't mind testing the students and getting to see their progress! YAY!

GYM TIME!! Decided to tape my foot to keep it from moving before my run on the treadmill. Well, a half mile in I stopped and took it off. It was actually causing more pain. I am now re-thinking what this could be on my foot?! After I got it off, I hopped on and kept going 1 mile at 7:50, half mile at 7, half mile at 7:40, 1 mile 6:50, half mile at 7:40, a mile at 6:50 and half mile at 7:30 and then a cool down at 8:00. No foot pain. Felt relaxed and was carrying on a conversation during the whole thing. In all, 5.92 miles...silly number but stopped at time. I am trying so hard not to push. I just feel so fit right now.

I met an old client to put her through a spin class. It wasn't a true spin class by she had never been on a spin bike so I eased her into it. It was 65 min. Of rolling hill and sprints. It felt like a decent workout.

On a side note, Tough Mudder Indiana is moved to June 16th and I am in a wedding that weekend in Florida. Talk about timing. I'm a little upset that I now may have to wait until October for the next closest one. Unless anyone is willing to travel with me this summer?!?!

4:30 am...SWIM

Just keep swimming...just keep swimming swimming. Well, I did get up and out the door to make it to the gym at 5 am just to hop in a cold pool. Brrr! However, I think I saw every hour of the night. No sleep?! Ahhh. Anyways, did not feel great getting into the pool. I feel very fatigued but I just kept swimming. I got in a good hour of a solid swim. The. Went straight to work. Had a good day at school as well. Then came home to put on a functional training class with my mom using bosu, trx, kettle bells, free weights and body weights. It was 1 hr and 20 minutes with no rest! Proud of her for doing it. Decent training day...:-)

1-16-2012

Did a tough workout on the bike. First 15 minutes averaged a moderate 17 mph then killed it. Finished 20.1 miles in an hour. I was working. I added in major hills and speed work. This was done on a stationary bike opposed to spin bike. I feel like the spin bike is sometimes easier when it comes to miles. I then put in a moderate 10 at about 19 then went slow for a cool down. Got in about 36 miles on the bike. Was going to lift but I am pretty beat. Going to spend the rest of my day with my boy then tomorrow it's back to reality. Swimming is a top priority this week. Also, I have a few functional training sessions planned with my mother. It pretty cool to have a trx, bosu, and weights to put one on in the house. I can't wait!!

Run day!!

Nervous about the foot. Still not as much pain but I still get nervous. 15 min on bike easy as a warm up. 5.5 miles starting at 7:50 working down to 6:45. Felt strong. Then got on the spin bike for about 30 min. Felt my foot once. I was pleased with this run. Time for more football now...go packers... Well I'm writing this a day late so boooo packers too.
I am loving spending time with my boo. Also, went to church this am. I love God!! I am currently doing the K love challenge. Nothing but Christian music. This doesn't even phase me. The music lifts you up, even during workouts. I have been using Pandora Christian hits and I love it. Trying to use some of my workout time to praise God. I feel sometimes working out takes too much priority out of my life.

Olympic Trials

Cardio day!! 30 miles on the indoor bike then 20 slow minutes on the elliptical. Watched the Olympic trials and wow...motivation. The things these athletes have overcome and pushed through gives me hope. I averaged about a 18-19 on the bike the first hour was 19 mph then slowed up to a more comfortable pace the next 10 miles. Went to Haubstadt tonight for a healthy dinner and football. It was good to spend time with my family. However, we all fell asleep during the game. Boo... to the Broncos; I was bummed.

All in all good day. I am very much blessed!

Friday the 13th

No delay! Boooo!! Oh well, had another good day with first graders!! They are just the sweetest, sometimes needy but sweet!
Went to the gym after school. 30 min on the elliptical, this made my foot a little sore. Then did about a 45 min back circuit workout. Little to no rest and switched between heavy weights and light weights. Then I hopped on the bike only wanting to go a half hour but oops, went an hour and got in 19.1. Now it is time to start a 3 day weekend with my love!

It's snowing! 1/12/12

I had a good day at school. Worked with first grade all day, and it is good to see some innocence in the students. I keep telling myself if I can't just make a difference in a few I have done my job. These kids sometimes drive me to almost insanity, but then I stop myself, what are they really going through? It is a lot that I couldn't even handle as a 25 year old let alone 6-12 years of age. They are just seeking approval, attention and love. I need to continue to remind myself of that to better myself as a teacher.

I also signed up for wander Indiana with three other teachers today. It goes for several months and the winner goes to the team with the most miles. You get miles in many different ways. Mile for mile on running, biking, swimming, and what the elliptical trainer reads as mileage or any equipment for that matter. You also get miles for circuit training and classes. It will be fun and exciting and keep me continually motivated. I had to be weighed in and measured and I do not like this. I try not to get on the scale because I can become obsessive with it and that is not healthy. I go by the fit of my clothes because my muscle tone changes for what I am training for. However, I was pleased where my weight was so it wasn't a disaster, haha. It was a little lower than I thought but my cardio is up pretty high for this time of the year plus I have stopped lifting heavy.

Ok enough venting, I went to the gym after school. I was motivated to workout and nervous to test my foot. I started with 15 minutes on the bike then hopped on the tread and ran 5.25 miles at 7:45 pace. This felt very relaxed and easy and never felt my foot. Hmmmmmmm, taking it easy may actually help with recovery?! Its only taken me 5 years. I wanted to go longer but that wouldn't be smart...remember SMART TRAINING! After my run, I got back on the bike for 30 minutes. I felt good today and am excited about my foot. Maybe I shouldn't have dissed the treadmill. It is obviously giving me the slight cushion my foot needs. I am on day 9 of new shoes and orthodics. They say it takes about two weeks for the pain to go away. It probably would be totally gone right now if I would have taken complete time but it is getting better.

I am also excited for an evening with my family with coffee Grey's and Private Practice...and okay I can't lie... I want a snow day! I'm a child at heart!

1/11/12... Forced Training

If I am going to call myself a Triathlete I must follow through with training. Triathlon is three not two! I made myself get into the pool after work. I was cold and did not want to put on a swimsuit and get in water, but I did. I am so happy I did. I swam 30 minutes at easy to moderate pace. Then I did 5x100 free with 45 seconds rest. Note: I don't do flip turns...I need to learn. Anyways I went 1:50,1:48,1:46,1:44,& 1:41. I am not a swimmer and took about a year or more off of any pool work. I remember doing repeats like this and they were usually 1:45's so I am actually happy with this workout. Anytime you get faster, that's good...right?! I was feeling motivated so I then got on the spin bike and did a spin workout. I was on there for about 70 minutes. Lots of sprinting and rolling hills! Felt good but I am starving!!!! My boyfriend had a meeting tonight so I had to eat alone. Bummer... Happy with training. I am going to try a treadmill run tomorrow. Foot is still making progress!

On a side note, I finally have clip in pedals on my bike!!! Looks the weather now may keep me off the road a bit but I can't wait to see how fast I will be able to go now!!! Yay!!

Rest Day...

For me, these days stink but I know they are crucial. I literally forced myself not to workout at all. However, my body is a bit over trained and I think this is why I continually get these pains that make me stop. I want these pains to stop so I have to train smart and listen to my body. Listen?! HA! Those who know me know that is not something I'm good at. I mean come on, I am a teacher people listen to me...haha:-)I haven't been able to train for more than 2 months at a time without an injury for two years. I want to be able to reach my potential, in which I don't know that I ever did even in college. I was forced out by an injury going into my last seasons and never got the opportunities to hit my PRs.

I got some things done today and got to just relax...that really never happens. I also got my paperwork in for the sponsorship and should be featured on their site by the end of the month. I want to represent 3 disciplines racing with the best of my ability and I have to be healthy to do that. They're a great team and put on some great races. Who gets excited for 5 am runs?! Yep...Me!

I woke up and was ready to run. I need less impact so I opted for the treadmill...gross! Anyways, it is less impact and I can keep my run under control instead of turning it into a tempo, this is what I'm known for. I got in 4.1 right at a 7:50 pace. Felt very very easy and relaxed. Felt my foot once and it was just dull. Hoping it's going to be okay. After my run, I did a leg workout.
5x20 prone leg curls
5x20 leg extensions
5x20 squats with 20 lb kettle bells
Adduction/abduction 5x20 each

Very short but got the general legs in. I didn't feel my foot walking around so we will see how it does being on it the rest of the day. I am a little nervous...goal is to have another workout this evening but it all depends on how I feel.

Well, foot doesn't feel too bad. Met Andrew and we got my retirement fund set up. Wahoo. Then we went to the gym. I did an hour of cycling with lots of rolling hills and then did core work.

1-9-2012

I was up a little later than I am use to. I was tired and lethargic today. These days always seem to fall on days my boyfriend works his 24 shift...I don't feel as motivated lol. Well I finally mustard up the energy to go on a ride. It was windy and a lot harder than what I thought it would be. I got in 34.5 and I was finished. My foot bothered me a little. I need to get my clip ins put on my bike!! Disappointed in myself for not getting in the water to swim!! This is my weak point and I need to get on it and focus! 5 am workout tomorrow! Yay!

1-7-2012

Slept in this morning. Had protein pancakes and chocolate covered raspberry coffee that my awesome boyfriend got for me. Then we got our day started. He ran his many errands while I stayed and cleaned things up and cleaned out the highlander. He then came back and we finished running errands together. Came back home and fixed lunch together.

We went to the gym a little later than we wanted but that's okay. I did a cardio circuit of 700 reps.

Didnt feel as good as I wanted but the spinning felt good. My boyfriend was there too. I am so blessed to have someone who I can do everything with. I love him.

1-6-2012 Sponsored Athlete

Well... The alarm went off at 4:30 and I decided to go back to sleep...oops:-) but sometimes you have to listen to your body, plus I know I will have time to workout this evening. I ended up seeing I had a new email and I checked it out of habit. I was selected to be one of 10 athletes to be sponsored by 3 Disciplines Racing for this year. They picked 5 males and 5 females. I sent in my application on a limb, not really thinking I would get it but why not try. The application wanted to know your history and goals within racing. They also like to know what you do for a living and ect. I believe they really liked my discipline and hard work and the story about how I progressed through college. They also like the variety of races I do, especially the off road races. I am very excited about this opportunity, thus my race plans have changed for this year. Possibly moving tough mudder back because of my foot. I still plan to get one in! I am hoping they post Nashvilles date soon. I am honored to have this opportunity and I am going to start my training SMART... No more injuries. The foot still bothers me some but the orthodics are helping tremendously...thanks to SWIFT athletics.

Well, school is over and it's gorgeous out. Foot is feeling better...I decided to run. Just an easy 4 miles. I stayed on grass and didn't let myself speed up. A little pain and soreness after, but not to bad. Ice, ice, ice! Note to my body...please heal quickly :-) It felt great to run.

Relaxed and hung out with my man and friends this evening! I am so happy and blessed right now.

Sleep in :-)

Sleeping til 5 feels so much better than 4:30:-) I decided to just workout in the evening today. I launched a new literacy program for our k-2 grade students and it went well, I am excited about this. I didn't have my bike at Andrews so I got on the spin bike and ended up spinning for 2 hours:-) feeling good. I then came home to have dinner with my boy and then I went for some ice cream...ooooops! I want to try to run tomorrow...I don't know if I should or not...???

1-4-2012

Another great am swim. I got in an hour, pushed a little harder because I had someone swimming by me. Very happy with myself for getting in there 3 time within 4 days! This is huge. I am feeling some 100 m workouts coming this weekend!
I planned to lift again this evening but decided against it. Andrew and I had date night...aka: grocery shopping and ran some other errands. I have been crazy busy at school I was exhausted. I also got new shoes and orthotics...foot feels better in these shoes by a lot. I may try a run this weekend....very short and relaxed.

4:30 am

I have a better chance getting in the pool in the mornings compared to after school. I obviously need to be off my foot so swimming is my best choice. I felt strong again this morning. I still have ALOT of work to do to get back in the swimming shape I was in 2 years ago. I plan to be in the pool at least 3 times a week. I want to run so badly, it honestly is killing me but this is what my body needs.

I am planning a second workout this afternoon...

Did back this afternoon smashed back for about an hour non stop! Rock on :-)

2012

I FINALLY got in the pool! I am so proud of myself. I haven't swam indoors since May. And to be honest I could probably count on my fingers the number of swimming training sessions I had in 2011. Not a good sign of a triathlete huh? Well, I did it. I did 1 hour without stopping. Kept a relaxed pace and just got the feel of my stroke again which isn't that great. :-) afterwards, I did some light legs.

Got to be woke up by my boyfriend... Always the best :-) I am still pretty bummed about my foot...probably stressing about it too much. I went ahead and went on a bike ride for 30 miles. It was windy but I got in a decent ride. No foot pain after. Hopefully the inflammation is decreasing.
I am so blessed with many things that came in 2011...
My soul mate who has completely changed my life. I love Andrew with all my heart.
I got into the profession I was meant to have...a teacher.
I have a blessed family who puts up with me within all my many up and downs.
Things to work on for 2012...
My faith in God.
I am so excited to see what great things are in store for my life and all the many people involved!

I was having a bum of a day and I don't even know why. Well, sort of, I am pretty bummed about my foot. From my research it seems like a case of sesamoiditis. Hopefully I can get it under control. Using ice,mibuprofen, topical gel, and taping with pads. I had to do something though so I went to the gym and elliptical for 30 minutes, rowed a fast 1000 meters and cycled for 11.5 miles.This was just over an hour of cardio and I couldn't get my heart rate elevated. I think I need to do some serious re-thinking to my training. I am having too many over-training symptoms. I can't help it, it's what I want to do. However, I can only do what I want if I am healthy.
I am blessed to have an amazing boyfriend who makes me realize all the other blessings of my life. My workouts and performances do not make me who I am. I am so blessed to have him in my life.
