It has been hard for me to keep up on this. Life just keeps getting busier...but better :-) I have one of the most supportive husbands a runner could ask for. He is there to help, support and keep me in line. He really cares about how I train and wants me to do my best. My family especially my mother is right there too. Encouraging me and being my cheerleader. This is the first time I have truly trained since college. And it feels good to have a plan. But man.... I don't know how I did it for 4 years straight!!!! But this is how it has gone so far...
December 17
Was going to do this on the track right after school but it was cooler than I packed for. I went home and got ready and marked off a loop on a nearby trail. It was all grass/trails. I told myself that my times may be slightly slower due to this and the wind. My workout was 3x 1 mile at 6:12. Well I ended up going 6:18 on each one with 1 minute rest. They felt really good and relaxed. I just couldn't switch into a faster gear. I wasn't happy with my times but was happy for how I felt. It's the first workout in a 16 week period...I should be happy. Did 2 miles as a warm up and cooled down three and a half miles. The test today was mentally. Usually if I feel crumby or can't hit my times I push it off to another day. However, my schedule doesn't allow that so I stuck to my guns and kept pushing.

Slightly sore, not too bad. Gorgeous day!!! I ended up going for 8.5 mile recovery run...yep not smart but the weather was so amazing!! I am starting to get sick. Coughing, sore throat and can't breath. I also need to hydrate better.

Feeling icky, as in sick. So it was apparent that today needed to be my day off. Rest and planned
activities for my kiddos at school. Getting so excited for Christmas!

Workout #2... Got out of school late plus extreme winds I decided to hit the treadmill.todays workout was 2 miles gradually increasing pace 2 miles at 6:40 pace 2 miles down. I played around with the incline on the treadmill to make it like outdoor running. This was terrible. I was about to go I sane on the dreadmill. I am still feeling sick and felt lightheaded. Oh well, I go through this. Spent the rest often evening baking 50 sugar cookies and other treats!! Baked for two hours...yes my kiddos are spoiled!!!!
December 21
Had a blast with my kiddos today!! Cookie decorating, hot cocoa, sweet treats, lunch in the room, and amovie!! :-) Today is a cross training day. Hit the stairmill for an hour at the gym. Saw some of my old clients and had people to talk to the whole time which was nice. Then saw Liz and we had a nice chat while walking uphill on the treadmill for 45 minutes. I definitely loosened up the legs. The. Met my aunt and mom for a pedicure!!! Great ending to my week!

Shopping day... Also had a head cold hit me last night... Hard core...blah... However, I have to do my shopping I am way behind. I shopped with my mom from 11-4 then went out again on my own and then met Liz for dinner at Zoup! I was craving hot soup because it was cold and I wasn't feeling well. I came home and decided to get on the bike. I knew tomorrow has to be my first long run some went easy for an hour on my trainer! I think it was really good for my legs and loosened up my sinuses a bit. Wrapped presents the rest of the night.
December 23
Woke up and had a good breakfast and ended up falling back asleep after with my hubby! I woke up around 10 and set out for my long run. I am nervous because I am suppose to go 13 miles and have only gone 12 in my life. I still am not feeling 100%. I am also thinking in my head will my body break, will I be able to finish, should I really be training for a marathon right now?! Yes, I was psyching myself out of this run before even starting. I decided to run for time... I plugged in my gps on my phone and tracked my distance but didn't listen or check it. I knew I was going to run 1 hour and 43 minutes and that's all I looked at. I overdressed....it was warm and an awesome day to run. I stayed mostly on grass and trails had some roads. The first time I looked at my watch I had been running 50 minutes! Wahoo!! I thought it ad only been 30 minutes. I was enjoying g the run, feeling great, and thinking about how much I have to be blessed for. How blessed I am to able to run....how much I am going to be missing 2 important family members this Christmas... By the next time I looked at my watch it was time to be heading back to the house. I started to get a little tight in my hip but a stretch was the quick fix. Note to self....more stretching and foam rolling. I felt amazing when I finished. I checked my gps...14.1 miles....whoa!!!! I was running a 7:21 pace average. Oops....I guess I was thinking too much but the pace was natural. I know I will need to slow down a little next week when it gets longer. I felt accomplished and proud of myself and now I know I can make it through this training! Now it's time to finish shopping and bake some cookies for Christmas with the Baumgarts. It was a blast!!! My new family is great! Good laughs with the game catch phrase:-) and yummy choco balls from lics!!!:-) I wish my husband was feeling better :-(

CHRISTMAS EVE!!!!
I love love love Christmas time. My husband and I slept in had a nice breakfast and just layed around this am. Then we decided we needed to do a little workout before all the food we were going to have. He lifted while I rode on the cross trainer. I rode for 90 minutes making sure to I corporate hills and sprints! Then we headed to Haubstadt. Christmas on my dads side. Good to my Grammie!:-) then stayed all night at moms for our early morning rise! We watched the family stone had some sweet treats and fell asleep by 11 oops :-)

CHRISTMAS DAY
John woke us up a little later than usual...5 am it's typically 4 am:-) he made cinnamon rolls, bacon, and the all of our sweet treats. Then my favorite part....presents!! Wow... My momma knows how to shop for me she picked me out some cute outfits I think she picks better than I do! She also got me two DVDs about the ironman...wow!! This is my ultimate goal!! Marathon is a stepping stone to this goal! It's a tradition that once everyone has opened we start a movie. We started a movie and oooops Andrew and I were out. When I woke up I had to I media rely get ready for my workout. If we get this blizzard, I won't be able to hit the track. So I hit the track in Haubstadt....the wind was picking up but didn't let that go to my head. I had 6x800 @ 2:58 pace with 2 min recovery. The recovery time was more than I am use to so that is good! But then again I haven't gone fast in so long! Well....I nailed it!! A few were a little fast but it was all right at 2:58 and had 2 min jog recovery! Yay!! I did it! Time to enjoy the rest of the day at my aunts!! Great times, food and fun! More catch phrase! Then it was time for Andrew and it's Christmas for each other. He is so amazing....I can't express how much I love him and how much of a blessing he is to me.
Well Tough Mudder moved the date to June and I will be in Florida for a wedding...Tough Mudder is out until further notice...I am training for Spartan Sprint April and hopefully Spartan Beast October. I also have a wedding to plan and a sponsorship with 3D racing to carry out! TRAIN HARD!!!

Family is what's important in life!
Wednesday was Data Wise a downtown. It was a lot of information to take in but it was nice to take a step back from the constantly hectic classroom. After the meeting, I came home and ran the trails. It felt awesome I got in 9 miles! Spent the rest of the. Ight with my amazing husband:-)
Thursday...had a pretty good day with my kiddos. There is some work going on the school roof so that made for lots of distractions. I came home and it was almost dark so I rode on my trainer for 1 hour and 35 minutes. Watched 3 episodes of Reba again. I love that show!!
Friday...whoa...what a Friday...first thing in the morning I was booted out of my room bc it was a safety hazard. My students surprisingly transitioned very well and I had to teach in the library. However, I am stoked that my kiddos finally picked up on multiplication. This was the thirs strategy I taught and it clicked!! Best feeling of being a teacher is when students ask if they can do more!! The rest of the day went pretty well! I came home and I was BEAT....I ended up falling asleep on the couch!! Ooooops....no working out just rest. Spent the evening with my hubby.
Saturday...race at thunderbolt golf course. Legs felt icky on the warm up. Did about 2 miles. The race was a bit short but finished at 18:10. I felt awesome!! I think I would have ran right at 19:00. I was just happy how relaxed this felt. It was all grass and had some hills so,I believe I could go sub 19 on the road right now easily. Just needed to get a little speed on my legs. My moms ca,e to support me since my hubby had to work. I am so blessed to have so much support in my life. I went on 4 mile cool down after the race.
Also, keep her friend Jean Dollison in your prayers, she was in that awful crash on Lloyd Friday.
The rest of my saturday consisted of a nap, cleaning, laundry, and 4 hours of lesson planning!

Lesson planned for a few more hours this am. Went for a 9.5 mile trail run and I got lost ahhhh!! Felt really good. However, my Achilles is very sore so I'm going to rest it a bit this week.
Ate waywayway too much at the cookie bake but I had a blast with my family. Everything we've been through it feels good to laugh and joke together :)
Have a great week everyone...remember don't take one moment for granit and try not to stress over little things...it's nothing in the scheme of things.

Going to try this again!
Well hello!! I stopped this about 8 months ago when life changed for me in so many ways.
First, I became engaged to my soulmate and best friend. It was the most exciting thing that had happened to me. A few days later, our family suffered a tragic loss that we are still trying to recover for . We loss my beautiful and talented cousin, Jennifer. Not a day goes by that I do not think of her. Soon after that, her father my godparent died. A few mo ths after that, my Uncle Eric died and again way too young. He is the reason I am a Cowboys fan. During that time, my cousins 3 year old daughter had been fighting a brain tumor but through all this hurt and suffering, God cured her tumor and also brought my Jeffrey out of his dark times and he is now working out, running, going to College and starting a job! I also married my best friend who has been my rock through all of this. I also was blessed by God to receive my first contracted teaching position. I am a 4th grade inclusion teacher. These kiddos keep me on my toes and majority of the time send me home with little to no energy. My hard core training over the past few months went from my intense hardcore training to moderate training that focused on just getting out and moving and staying injury free. I really had not had the energy to train over the past months. Instead, I have relocated my passion for running. I am running, enjoying it, and am injury free. Over the past 5 years since I had to end my college career early due to injury I have not a had longer than a 2 month stretch without some sort of injury.
I have started focusing on living life and enjoying each second I have with my loved ones. My family has formed an even tighter bond through all of this and we no longer take our time for granite. I also take in every second I have with my husband. Being married is awesome and I am just so happy to have someone who loves me for me. He doesn't care how fast I am, what my profession is, or what I wear he just loves me and I can't express how good that feels!
So why am I blogging again?! An outlet...pretty much :-)
I am actually going to try to train again. I have been logging about 8-9 miles 4-5 days a week with at least one off day and 2 weight days.
Started racing again...
Thanksgiving.... Yuck....19:40 no speed or turnover...I wasn't tired but couldn't go! I guess it's true when you just run for distance you lose a little natural speed.
Did a slow 18 mile ride the day after for recover ....it was super cold and windy!!
Get Dirty 15k and my hubby did the 10k...BRRRRRRRR!! Also.... This is my longest race ever. I have done 2 10ks in my life lol. I loved this race and felt strong!!

My splits! Wanted to be faster but settled in and did not have anyone to run with! I am ready to go long and thinking about seriously starting my marathon training. I am thinking about April marathon so my decision will be made in the next few weeks. I loved this race it was clearly marked and nice trails!!!

Tuesday... My mom gave me her cyclops trainer!!!! She only used it once so it's brand new and super nice. I watched three episodes of Reba so I got in 90 minutes. I was surprised that I could work myself harder than I feel like I do on a spin bike!!
So that's about it and let's see if I can keep this up!! :>
I am always look for tri ing partners so let me know my hours are kind of hard for training right now because I get to school when it's dark and usually leave as it is almost dark.
One more thing...a HUGE shutout to my mother for starting her training again! She faced the turkey trot 5k agai. For the first time in 5 years!! I am going to be dragging her with me to these races again!!

June...
Whoa...what a month it has been. Sometimes I feel like our family can't catch a break... But out of all the hurt and sorrow we have recovered and grown closer. It makes me happy to see happiness come back to my aunt and cousin.
As for myself, I am happy with training. I still can't run as much but I'm getting there. I was able to run in a 5k and used it as a tempo. This would have been the first time my legs have seen sub 7 pace since March. I ran a 20:15 and it felt relaxed! I was happy just to run:-) biking is also going well...need to S W I M. I did crash the other day on my bike but it wasn't as intense as my running fall...I'm a little banged up but nothing that is keeping me from training.
I have still been doing my intense weight circuits but my cardio has gotten that intense yet.
I also just found out I am going to be the 4th grade language arts/social studies teacher at Evans! So... I have a wedding and a room to get together...crazy busy summer...because I am also teaching summer school... But i am enjoying it
I also have the best support system ever. My wedding party has been awesome!! Love you all...I'm also excited to say my mother is going to be my Matron of Honor. She is my best friend!

12 weeks later...
On Good Friday, I took a fall during a long run. It had become very painful and swollen but I thought this was just normal. I gave it a few weeks of swimming and rest. I tried to run the Wednesday before my Spartan race and I should have listened to my body. The pain was intense. I could barely walk...I was in pain in position I was in. I went to the doc And got a lot of feedback...some thought meniscus, or bursae, or the fat bad of the knee. Some thought it was just a bruise. I went through weeks of anti inflammatories, ice, compression, and PT. I could mainly just lift weights but even that flared it up some. Everything was painful...just walking was painful. Finally, after 4 weeks my doctor recommended a cortisone shot...I was iffy but I needed relief. It began to work after a week with walking, but everything else was still painful. I kept up with therapy and gradually I was able to do more and more. Biking finally came about 2 weeks post cortison. Stairs are still iffy...running is getting there. I'm using trial and error. If it hurts I stop and do something else. Last night, I went for a run and made it 25 mins and had minimal pain as long as my brace was snug. My knee did not swell and it did not cause pain that woke me up in the middle of the night. It also doesn't seem to be too sore today. This is a positive sign:-) I am taking it very slow and hope to race late fall...but again it's going to be slow...my first goal is to be healthy enough to run the color run for my bachelorette party and just enjoy it. I am having fun being engaged and planning a wedding. I am also teaching summer school all summer. I have enough to keep me busy. I do however want to carry out my sponsorship so I promise to be back. But for now, I am taking it easy and allowing the recovery process to take its course. Just wanted to keep everyone who read this updated!

I was so embarrassed I got up immediately and kept running. I ran through the pain andit eventually went away. Kept all my miles sub 7:20 and the last mile was sub 7. Finished 9.5...felt awesome could have went forever. I iced my knee and stiffness kicked in...I struggled walking the rest of the day...ugh....I hope this goes away...

After dress shopping I did a 7.5 mile run.
Sunday...
My fiance came to Haubstadt for breakfast once he got off work:) hung out with the fam and then we started doing spring cleaning in Haubstadt I got rid of 3 trashbags full of clothes... He took those to goodwill for me :-)the I went on a 34 mile bike woooo windy! The went on a 4 mile maintained tempo right around 6:50 pace. Then went to Andrews and ended up getting rid of 3 more full trash bags! Wow!!! Lol I feel alot less cluttered now!

Still a mix of emotions...

After the staff meeting, I met Andrew at his house and we went to Audubon together to run trails. I love running here especially to get in hill work! We did our loop twice for the first time ever. It was about a 7 mile run. This didn't feel good, I think I am getting sick...ugh.

Day off...feel very sick uhg...
Friday...
Stressed...sad...excited...tired...ahhhh I don't know what to feel. We are leaving for Indy tonight so i went for a run...and I ran 7.5 miles and cried half the time. It was my first good cry since everything has happened. It helped me feel better. We left for Indy at about 7 pm and got to out hotel and in bed at 1 am and got up at 6... Yuck! Oh well, it was fun to go to a powerlifting competition.

What a beautiful day. We got back to Evansville around 4:00 and got in my run right away. I got in 8 miles with a good sweat. We then went to look at land to get married at...and it's going to work!! Tragedy
Thursday March 8, 2012....
I had just gotten on the stairmill when my phone rang... It was that dreaded call. My mom had informed me my cousin had passed. It was complete shock,sadness, and hysteria. I ran to get Andrew on the gym floor and we headed straight to her apartment... This is awful...sad...no words...
She was beautiful and extremely talented...she is dearly missed and loved....this is a great hardship for my family and we need all the prayers possible.
If Jennifer was here...
I would let her know how I always wanted her gorgeous hair...it was always perfect.
I would tell her how naturally beautiful she was and all the heads she turned.
I would tell her growing up, she is who I wanted to be.
Her style was unique and I was always jealous I couldn't pull it off like her.
I would push her in the direction of art...
Have her help me decorate my fiance's house.
Tell her I love her and that I would be there no matter what.

I am getting married!!!!
Okay, so much has been going on...this is getting hard to keep up...so it's all going to be one post.
Friday...
Storms...ahhh stuck in the hallway with 4-6 graders for 90 minutes. Glad everyone stayed safe. Took the day off.

Okay, I am super disappointed in this effort. I should have pushed more. My body just wasn't going. I am actually a little embarrassed. However, I know I'm in better shape then this and I am just blessed in so many more areas of life that I can't be down over something this silly. Life is so much more than physical fitness.
Spent the rest of my day with my man. We went shopping, cooked, and just layed in each others arms.

Wow...wind wind wind...but beautiful weather. Still working out soreness. I am ready to run a 5:30 mile in a few weeks. The 200 were encouraging especially with wind. My legs still exist.
Ummm....engagement story....
I go to bed at 8:30...at 9 my boyfriend d calls to tell me goodnight but I was asleep and barely remember it...next thing I know, I am in his arms and he said "Lacy,Lacy...I need you to do me a favor. I say mmhmm shocked and confused...he is suppose to be at work and not get off til 7 am... I just mumble and can't comprehend everything right away. He then turned on the light and I notice he is in a suit...he says...will you make me the happiest man in the world for the rest of my life? I say mmhmm...now I'm starting to understand, he gets on his knee opens the box and asked, will you be my wife...I say are you serious? And I begin giggling and say yes...giggling turns to tears then back to giggles...im still a little confused but the happiest girl. I just layed there in his arms giggling. For literally 10 minutes then he informs me I need to let some ppl know. My brother was out waiting in the living room...he had let him in the house. I then went to wake up my mom... Hey mom I just want to let you know I'm getting married...she's goes huh...I say I'm getting married...she goes ohhhhhhhh is someone here...oh my gosh did I miss it?? Oh my gosh.... Oh my gosh...ok ok I have my glasses on do it again! Funniest thing!! :) I am the happiest girl in the world. We stayed up talking til 2 then knapper til 5 and I had to get ready for work....I'm engaged!! Engaged!!:-)))))

Blessed
I hated staying inside but needed to get in a longer bike. I went 30 miles and averaged 19.5 mph. It felt pretty good. I then went home and on the way home had a text from my love that coffee was on, and he'd be right back. He came back with a special stir fry and sushi. Wow! I just love his thoughtfulness, kindness....ahhh:-) I love being in love. Okay... Sorry enough mushy stuff. I am pretty tired and dehydrated. Planning to do Bound the Mounds 5k Saturday. I know on the trails and as muddy as its going to be my time won't be as fast as I want but the effort will be there. Just excited to do a trail run. Hoping my foot holds up to all the mud sliding.

Beautiful Weather...I can't be indoors!!
Had a pretty good day at school. Stayed busy, which helps days go by. My boyfriend picked up a shift tonight so I didn't get to see him :'( I went home to find my mother had already ,are me supper. WOW! She is the best ever. I have the most wonderful family ever. I ran before I ate. I knew I needed to be on grass so there is a half mile loop around my old elementary school. It has a few hills and is all grass, but loops stink. However, it's better than no running at all. I did about a mile warm up then did some 800 m tempo pick ups. These were very relaxed. The point was to push push the comfortable pace and get a little turnover in the legs. I ran the uphill way which is slightly over 800 meters then I would go back to about 730 pace for 2:30 and do the loop again. There was no stopping. I ended up doing 5...3:25,3:25,3:25,3:23 and the last one on the track 3:17. I was happy with how relaxed thrse were, plus i was dehydrated. Could have done quite a few more. I cant wait to start track workouts for speed. 800 metere repeats were always my money workout back in the college days. Goal is to get those back this summer. I use to be able to pull out about 7 of them at 2:45 with 90 seconds rest. I do miss my speed :( oh well, base training is keeping me healthy.Then I ran a little over a mile cool down and then did some running in the grass barefoot with some strides. All together, I got in about 7 miles.
I got to hang out with my family the rest of the evening:-) its such a great feeling to have so many supporters.

2-28-2012... Olivia's Benefit
I couldn't stay for after school today, we are holding a benefit for little Olivia. At only 3 years old, she has had two surgeries to try to remove a tumor. It has grown back and now the only way to fight it is radiation. She will have to live in Indy and have radiation Mon.-Fri. For 8 hours. Please pray for her and her family this is a rough time.
The benefit was from 4-7. It was in Fort Branch so I ran there from Haubstadt. I ended up making it there faster than I thought so I did some loops in Fb. My watch said it was over 8 miles but I think my gps is slightly off so I'm going to say it was 7.75 @ 7:10 pace. My original watch said 7:00 even. It was a pretty quick clip!!! Felt good. A little sore foot but oh well. It was a gorgeous day and I'm thankful for life! Thanking God!!

Well, today was just a gorgeous day so it made my mood good. I went to the gym and biked 30 miles at 20 mph! Woohoo worked out some soreness and stiffness in my legs. I am ready to run tomorrow!!:-)
I went home to Andrew and he was a little somber after going to the service today.I honestly can't imagine ever losing him. I love him so much!

The past few days have blurred together...all in one blog
Wednesday...
Long day at school. Ran after school around 4:45 got in 6.5 ran the last .5 barefoot. Averaged a pretty quick clip. It was a gorgeous day. I Recieved a phone call at 8:30 from Andrew. The tone of his voice gave me chills. I knew something was wrong. He informed me of the incident involving a McCutchanville truck and a firefighter. I was in shock after knowing both of these men. It broke my heart. It scared me, it made me sick. I can't imagine what these men are going through. Prayers go out to his family and friends.
Thursday and FridY...
Thursday I dedicated my evening to Andrew. I couldn't wait to just hug him a d not let him go. I keep thinking what if it was him? It's their line of work and duty and this just reminded me of the danger they face each and every day. Needless to say I didn't let him go all night. Friday I just didn't see a point in working out. This has opened my eyes to more important things in life and training right now is not one of them.

Each was for 15 minutes. The swim and run were same as last year but the bike was .6 farther! Yay!! It was great to have the support of my mom and boyfriend at my side the whole time. The swim was disappointing but not a surprise, if I want to be better I have to train and I have not swam in weeks. Bike I was so happy with! Legs were dead afterward. The run I went to fast too soon and it bit me in the butt. Didn't pace it how I wanted but I'll take it.
Overall, I had the fastest bike and run for the females...so I was the overall winner. Only two males beat me. I think only two males beat me in the bike by .2 and two in the run. Of course, lots in the swim.
Andrew and I's parents met tonight! Lots of fun:-) such a great family we have been blessed with. We cooked dinner for them and then played catch phrase! Loving the people in my life and hoping they know that.
Woke up early did dishes and was at church by 8:30. Stopped by the station to see my love and then went home for a 6.5 mile run on this beautiful day. Miles 1-4 were at 7:40 felt easy and the last two went 7:14 and 7:07 the last half was easy barefoot. I just thought of all my blessings and thoroughly enjoyed a run for once! Went to the service for Jeremy this afternoon...wow...such a tragedy but so amazing to see everyone come together. I literally slept from 3:30-5 pm and then 7:30-10:30 pm and the finally drug myself in bed. I haven't been getting sleep and this was my body telling me to rest. I am ready to conquer next week and do it in God's glory and for all those who can't.

Also keep my cousins daughter Olivia in your prayers. She is battling a brain tumor and has gone through her second surgery at the young age of 3. She had a surgery last year and the tumor grew back in less than 6 months. The second surgery was a few weeks ago and they couldn't get it all and now they must do radiation. So much for a little body to handle. She is staying strong and sweet as ever...keep her and her family in your prayers.

Woke up early did dishes and was at church by 8:30. Stopped by the station to see my love and then went home for a 6.5 mile run on this beautiful day. Miles 1-4 were at 7:40 felt easy and the last two went 7:14 and 7:07 the last half was easy barefoot. I just thought of all my blessings and thoroughly enjoyed a run for once! Went to the service for Jeremy this afternoon...wow...such a tragedy but so amazing to see everyone come together. I literally slept from 3:30-5 pm and then 7:30-10:30 pm and the finally drug myself in bed. I haven't been getting sleep and this was my body telling me to rest. I am ready to conquer next week and do it in God's glory and for all those who can't.

Also keep my cousins daughter Olivia in your prayers. She is battling a brain tumor and has gone through her second surgery at the young age of 3. She had a surgery last year and the tumor grew back in less than 6 months. The second surgery was a few weeks ago and they couldn't get it all and now they must do radiation. So much for a little body to handle. She is staying strong and sweet as ever...keep her and her family in your prayers.

Struggles
I am truly struggling right now. Maybe it is just the winter blues...even though we are having Spring like weather. I just don't want to be in the gym, I'm not sleeping at night, and my body is not recovering. Overtraining? Yes. Also, my days are so busy I am not fueling my body enough for my workouts. I go into workouts hungry which isn't good. I decided to do whatever I wanted at the gym and this is what I chose...

Gorgeous Day!!
Presidents day...but we still had a school data day. No kiddos, so less stressful. I was itching to get outside all day! It just looked so beautiful:))) I drove to Haubstadt because I had left my IPad at home. I ran in Haubstadt, OUTSIDE:-). Minimal foot pain...got in 6.3 @ 7:13 pace. I was shocked at my pace just because I thought I was moving slow...like 8:00 or so. I was happily surprised and then went to the gym and signed up for the tri and did a quick wt circuit.

Feeling some energy again!
Grocery shopped, cleaned, organized, decorated, and laundry while my boyfriend worked on his car. Whew! This kept me busy all day! I am happy with some of the things I found for the room! We went to the gym together at about 4:30. I got on the bike and rode 20 miles in 1 hr 30 seconds. Pretty good clip. I could have kept going but I wanted to lift. I lifted back...

FINALLY! A day to train outside!!
35.75 mile bike outside. It was a little chillier and windier than I had expected. I felt pretty good after about 15 miles. My legs just felt ick.
Ate lunch and drove to Angel Mounds and did a trail run. Used my watch for the first time outdoors. Went 6.4 miles at about a 7:35 pace. I would be lieing if I said I enjoyed this run. It hurt, I was tired, and I wanted to quit. But I kept on trucking. The top of my foot is now sore? I don't even know why. AHHHHH!

First tempo!!!
Long day at school. All this training is spiking my appetite!! I did not bring enough food... Oops! Anyways, got alot accomplished and after school is coming together. I left school hungry tired and sore and I know I have to push through this workout! I bought a protein bar and got going.
2 miles up @ 8:00 min very easy
3 mile tempo 19:10 (6:23 pace) not bad! Felt relaxed and in control. Started at 6:30 for the first 1.5 miles then cut back. I was pleased. 2 min walk
2.5 mile cool down 7:50 pace
Walked 3 minutes and did my leg circuit...
4x25 leg ext 30 sec rest
4x25 prone leg curls 30 sec rest
4x25 abduction/aduction 25 each with 30 sec rest
4x20 light leg press... Stopped at 4 sets because it was hurting my lower back.
Overall, this hurt!!! Try doing burnout legs a day after a long ride and hammering the run! Woooo!

Long Ride
I finally got a restful 6.5 hours of sleep. I actually didn't wake up tired! Had a busy day at school. I was running all over the place!
I didn't get in a long cycle session this weekend so I did tonight. 37.85 miles in 2 hours. Torture...I had ADHD on the bike tonight! Oh well got it done. Legs burn :-) success!
Added in 30 minutes of bicep training!

Well, I am just in love! I have the best boyfriend ever. He treats me like a queen day in and day out. This is the norm:-) I am blessed and will never take him for granit. I was already surprised by him this weekend with coffee, sushi, asparagus, shelving, new bed frame, and wall decorations. He still is the best and he re made our first dinner. Stuffed peppers with butternut squash, asparagus, grilled peppers, a fresh salad, and he made me his first ever cake! Wow! It came from the heart and I was so happy! I am still smiling.
Anyways, my workout. I didn't want to do this because I wanted to get home to my Valentine!!! However, I knew I'd be eating some sweet stuff so had to get something in. I biked 10 miles in 31:30 and then got on the treadmill. I ran 7 miles in 53 mins. I incorporated some hill work that kicked my butt a bit.At about 2 miles I incorporated hills. 1 min @ 1.0 1 min @ 2.0 1 min @ 3.0 1 min at 4.0 and then 2 min @ 1.0 all at 7:35 no rest just kept incline going then did it again in 5 minutes. I am still recovering from this weekends mileage and workouts. Oh well, I was pleased with it!

Cardio rest day!
My body needs a recovery day from all the cardio training. It has been 2 weeks since my last day off. I almost made it a complete day but then got bored so I did a dumbbell workout...

20 miles in 1:02 right around 19 mph. Felt relaxed. I was then going to get in the pool and ready to do so but there was a pool party! Really?! Anyways, I decided to lift arms. Circuit trained arms and went to the point of burnout. Hurt but felt so good:-)

1st Distance Workout
Well, I was ready to finally have an unlimited time to workout! I planned to do a Spartan workout with Andrew but I felt like doing a brick workout. We plan to do the Spartan Sunday!
Workout was...
4 miles easy at 7:45 incorporated rolling hills
10 mile bike @ 19 mph
4 mile (tempo) 6:48 pace. This was a progressive run starting at 7:00 and working down. I could have held this alot longer but I was happy with what I did. .5 miles easy then back on the bike 10 miles at about 18.5-19 mph. It was conversational ride that's for sure.
Ended up leaving a while after the love of my life and when I returned... He had bought my fav coffee and had a pot made, had hung decor in the kitchen, got veggie sushi and asparagus. He also bought me a framed cork board with all of the past notes I had given him throughout our relationship!! Wow!!!!! I am so blessed and loved! The feeling back to him is very mutual!

Fatigue...Soreness...DETERMINATION!
I have had a rough go around this week. My schedule at work has been chaos and no order. I'm exhausted and sore. My body is not recovering as quickly as usual. I did get on the spin bike for 1 hour and 20 min and really pushed. I would say it would be about a 23 mile bike! I really put in hill jumps and hill climbs. I can't express how ready I am for this weekend.

Happy 10 Months!!
Today is Andrew and I's 10 months :))))! He is a blessing to me. No one has ever understood me like he does. He is also a huge support system. I don't know what I would do without him.
School was a little crazy. I was pulled so my schedule was way off. However, I am flexible and use to this. Had a staff meeting after school and then had to babysit some after school kids. I want to run outside but it's partially dark when I have the chance and I need soft surfaces. Most of the grassy areas I would run are not lit and that's just creepy! So I went to the gym. It was so hot in there. I hopped on the treadmill and did 6.25 miles at about 7:37 pace and then got on the bike to cool down for an easy 5 miles. I originally meant to run 7 miles but my foot was sore. I think all my kettle bell work put some extra pressure on the ball of my foot. I also tried to come off ibuprofen again. Obviously, I am not ready for that. The pain isn't as bad, but I can tell there is still inflammation. I am still icing twice a day, putting on voltaren gel, and ibuprofen. When I do this, I am basically pain free :) I may need to take an extra day off of running this weekend.
On a side note, I registered for the Indiana Spartan Race. It is an obstacle off road run! I entered the Elite heat determined to do some damage to the course. I have started with the Spartan sprint that is normally a 5k but this course is closer to 4 miles. This is called the Spartan Sprint. There are 4 levels...
1. Spartan Sprint 5k
2. Super Spartan 8+ miles
3. Spartan Beast 10-12 miles
4. Death Race... 48 hour event
Each time you finish in the top 3 of one of the races you will recieve a free entry to the next level. I plan to get to the Spartan Beast...the death race sounds awesome...maybe next year! I am super excited about,this race. It actually pushes you to run as fast as you can. Tough Mudder just wants you,to finish and does not time you. I like to be competitive :-) so I will like this one. Andrew is also doing this with me! Yay!!!!!

Light Training Day
I was pooped today! No sleep last night and felt out of it all day.
Did 35 minutes on the spin bike and then hit the weights.
I did the following circuit three times with no rest

30lb kettle bell swings
20 lb rows each arm was 1 min and 30 sec.

Kettle bell simulated deadlifts
1 arm swings 1 min 30 sec each arm with 30 lb
Wool sweat and shoulder burn:-)

Cable fly super set with front/ lat raise x 5
Bosu crunches superset with back ext x3 25 reps of each
3x 15 side plank raises each side no rest

This was an I don't want to workout day
We all have these days. No matter who you are, how good, young, or old we have the days we force ourselves in the gym. My whole way to the gym I was finding ways to get out of it. The only thing that stuck in the back of my head was the fact I ate so much last night. I do believe I am in need of a rest day in the next few days. Lots of miles and have to stay healthy. Anyways, I did make my way to the gym. Sometimes it's hard leaving at 6:30 am and not getting home again until 7 ish. It's like where is my life?! And I hate being so tired when I finally get to be with my man. But I am blessed enough to have family and boyfriend that support and understand everything I do and how I have to train to reach my goals.

Super Bowl Sunday
Got up had a healthy breakfast and spent time with the family! The got ready for church. After church, hit up the gym...I decided to just do a long ride with the nasty weather I had to stay inside. I put on lifetime and just went. I ended up with a total of 42.5 miles at 19 mph! I ended up getting into a movie and stayed on a little longer. I made sure to up the resistance and also did speed intervals periodically. Had a very healthy lunch and then baked my Super Bowl goodies...and blew supper out the window. I ate so much chocolate I had a belly ache!! Oh well, it's out of my system. I had a great training week and am happy to say I am feeling a difference in my foot!!! Hopefully can really focus on running soon. I need to get in the pool....shame on me.

Rain, Rain Go Away!
Wanted to do an outdoor trail run, but this stupid rain. I know I sound like a sissy but right now I am wearing my running shoes to school and don't want them all muddy. Anywho, I couldn't sleep some was up at 6:30 and watched the DVD athlete. It is a great documentary about real people and endurance events. Very motivational. Then I cleaned and did laundry.

7.25 mile run on tread @ 7:35-7:40 pace. I decided that I was going to stay at one easy pace. I need to chill out a bit. My foot is healing so I need to just keep it easy. This felt awesome could have done another 7 at this pace. Very comfortable!!
Then went to Raffertys for lunch with the girls. Got a salad with dressing on the side and a baked sweet potatoe plain. You can eat healthy and go out to dinner/lunch.

Outdoor Bike!
I got out at 2:30 today! It was nice out and I have been itching to use my clip ins for the first time!! My mom picked me up at Andrews and we went to Bluegrass. I had to, or I should say my mom helped me loosen one of the pedals bc it was tight. After that, I had no problem getting in or out. I did 25 miles at an easy 18 mph. I was tired...legs were shot. Just put in some time, definitely not quality but that's okay.
Came to Haubstadt and had a great night with my family and boyfriend!

I have been ready to run. I really want to run outside but with the time frame I don't have many grassy places to run in the dark. Boooooooo!

Home with the family. Icing my foot!
First biking "tempo"
Woohoo! Half day today because of a meeting downtown. However, the professional development was slightly boring. It was stuff I had already figured out on my own. I was ready to learn something new. Oh well, I got my points and had a day away from craziness :-)
My foot is feeling better. I really think its the metatarsal pads and how I placed them. I went to the chiropractor Monday and he explained to me exactly where to put them and they seem to be helping!!! I wanted to run so so bad. But I am being extremely cautious this early in the season. I know I am not gong to be in good shape for the indoor triathlon but it will be a starter point and a good workout!
Decided to do a up pace cycle workout. First 30 min I pushed at a threshold pace. 10.6 in 30 min which is a 21.2 pace. Did 10 min at an 18 pace then got in 7.02 the last 20 min which is 21.06. I was pretty happy with this. It was tough and got the job done. Knee felt a little weird.
Lifted back after. I was dripping in sweat by this time which is kind of gross.
10x alternating curls superset with rows 15-20-25 reps did this superset three times
5x lat pull in sets of 12 superset with straight leg raises 20 reps
5x 21's

4:30 am
After a rest day, I was ready to get going early. I biked this morning I got in 20 miles right at a 19.5 pace. It felt so/so but I think it was a decent workout. I had to rush to get ready for school. Thank goodness for dry shampoo!! Haha.
Decent day at school. After school is a mess right now so it is a little stressful but not too bad. I took the kids outside so it was nice to have some fresh air.
Went straight to the gym after school. My boyfriend brought me clothes because I forgot to pack 2 sets this morning. I tried using my new watch that tracks distance and heart rate but I haven't given myself time to figure it out. I just ran on the treadmill. I did 5.5 miles in 41 minutes. I was tired but legs felt pretty good. I have metatarsal pads in my shoes now so I didn't feel pain in my foot but I could tell different muscles were working. I didn't want to push too much too soon.
Good training day. Ice and ibuprofen. I accidentally fell asleep on the couch for an hour with ice on my foot. Oops! Frozen toes!

Rest!!
Long overdue...I have been feeling sluggish on my workouts and exhausted in general. I decided to take the day off. Iced my foot and relaxed. After school has started back up so my day is extended another 2 hours! It's not bad but still trying to get into the swing of things. Plan on doing a 5 am bike tomorrow!

100 miles
I biked 100 miles this weekend!!
My alarm was my boyfriend this morning. Had breakfast with my family and hung out. Then went to church. Went to Andrews and then we went to his sisters for her birthday. I then went to workout. I did 30 miles at 18 mph. Just couldn't get going very fast today. After that, I did prone leg curls superset with dumbbell deadlifts x4 25 reps each. Leg ext 4x25!reps with 15 seconds rest. 4x25 abductor/ adductor 15 seconds rest. Then cooked dinner with my man and then went grocery shopping. Whoa! Got home at 9 and had a little time to relax together before bed. Pretty happy about the 100 miles:-) but boy I'm tired and hungry!

Energy?!
I got up at 6:30 and did laundry,dishes and some cleaning. Came to Haubsadt and had breakfast with the fam. Went to the gym and was very energized and ended up biking 40 miles at 19.2 mph. Could have kept going but I think I over did it a bit anyways. Foot has been sore...Ah! Ice..Ice...Ice. I the. Came home had lunch then met Lexie for some shopping. Then ca,e back to Haubstadt for dinner and movie! The Help is such a good movie. I am mentally and physicall drained now. Good night:-)
Ahhh... it's the weekend!
I felt awful at school. Headache like no other. I got through the day, and convinced myself I would feel better if I worked out. I think part of my headache was from dehydration. I decided to just cycle today. Very tired but averaged about 18 mph for 31 miles!
Girls night out at the new sushi place. Yummy! It was nice to go out with the girls.
Came home to Andrew and he had hung up a pallet like I had shown him I liked on Pinterest. I was so shocked and excited!! He even started to decorate it. Wow! He is amazing!!
We stayed up talking and ate some ice cream:-) oops!

Goals..Goals...Goals
The plan was to get up early to get the run over with but it was cold, rainy, and dark. My bed just sounds so much better. Also, at 2:30 am Andrew yells "Lacy!" I was startled and shocked and mumbled out a what...and he decided he needed to say," I love you!" My heart melted. I am so blessed to have found the love of my life and to know he loves me back equally for all I am:-)
My day at school was very busy! But it went by fast. Had a meeting after school as well so I was a little later starting my workout. I was tired and lunch had been too long ago. I did 2.5 warm up on bike then ran 6 miles in 45 min. I kept a good pace pretty relaxed. I was tired and got very bored on the treadmill. I was about to go insane!!! I am ready to have some grass to run on. Come on grass dry out! I then had a functional planned with my mom. I got home and we looked at each other and both go "well, do you really feel like it?" and neither of us did. This would have been workout #2 for both of us and we were both very fatigued and hungry. Decided to be smart and chill out the rest of the night! Good choice:-)
I am debating an early morning bike but not seeing it happen. I think all my training is kicking in because I have been ridiculously tired this week. Maybe getting more than 6.5 hours of sleep would help? Nah, it just won't happen. But I can't complain, my schedule now is so much better than getting up at 3:45 am like I did everyday last year. I am so happy with where my life is. God has blessed me:-) thank you God.

Push Pull, Push Pull!
Decided to do a long cycling session tonight. I did it on the indoor bike, not the spin bike. I watched TV to help with boredom. I struggled with fatigue. I barely made it to the gym, my body is so tired. I decided to get in a decent paced 30 mile ride. I did just that. I average 19 mph for 30 miles!
Foot=sore...I really think its the functional training when I do lunges, jumps, pushups and anything with a flexed toe. I also didn't take ibuprofen. I don't think I am ready to come off of it yet.
Andrew and I stopped at Walmart to pick up some food and head to John and Jana's for supper. Yummy:-)
Run tomorrow? I hope so!

I only did functional today. I am dead tired and it took all I had to push through this. It was a family workout. My mom, Lee and Andrew all joined. My mom is making progress...a lot!!! Here it goes:

Tm push up/bosu mt climbers/1 arm rows/side plank
Squat press/capt. Morgan/squat in outs/bosu crunches

The exercises that don't say 25 were stations. Each of us were at one for a minute then went to the next. No rest! Only rest was switching circuits. The 25-25-25-25 were done as fast as you could. We were all sweaty and tired by the end.
This made my foot sore...the burpees, lunges, and anything on my toes caused flexing and pain. Boooo. I guess I would rather these hurt it more than running.

SORE
Wow! Legs just hurt, back hurts. I am loving this soreness:-) however, I could only push through cardio. I did 4 mile warm up on bike 16-17 mph easy. I then did two miles at 7:45 really easy and then needed a potty break. I got back on the treadmill and did a 3 mile tempo in 20 min. I started at 6:40 and it felt so easy I could have held that for 5 miles I think. I should have just kept that pace but no...I kept cutting back. It was good probably a little too much for my foot, but I will ice it and it will be okay. Coming off of ibuprofen so I'm anxious,to see how I feel. I got right back on the bike and biked 15 more miles at about 17.5-18 mph average felt easy, but my legs are shot...completely. Functional tomorrow with my family:-)

One of those days...
I feel like I slept some, I got 8 hours which never ever happens. However, I woke up just feeling blah. My boyfriend came over when he was off work at 7 and we had breakfast and hung with the fam. We didn't go to church, this upset me and I think it may be the reason I had such a bad day. I should never not go to church. No excuses.
Anyways, we did some you tubing for fun workouts. We tend to get bored a lot. We went to the gym and did separate workouts. Mine was...

Last year I swam 775 m in 15 min my time trial was 13:45 and a lady got into my lane and swam into me so I stopped I may have done an extra lap bc I lost count and always go back to the last lap. I know it wasn't fast but I was pleased.

1-21-2012... Workout day at the Y with my Moma!
My mom and I had planned to do a functional training session, but instead went to the Y to lift more weights. I got to use her guest pass; it was fun to go somewhere different. I haven't worked out in 3 years since I worked there. It brought back old memories.
Anyways, we did the following:
3x
15x biceps alt. curls
20 dips (legs up with 25lb. plate)
30 sec. Squat in/outs
No rest one exercise to the next
3x10 Arnold presses 45 sec rest
21's superset with 15 front squatsx 3
3x 15 dumbbell chest press
Rest was the other person rep time
10x hammer curls superset with 10-15-20 step ups
Did this three times
I was proud of my mother. She hit it hard with me. It is fun to have someone to work with, as well. We then went our separate ways. She went to run the track and I got on the bike. Started out slw because I kept having old members that I knew talk to me. Plus, my legs are crazy sore and tired. I ended up getting 20 miles in right at an hour then biked another 6 moderate to easy. I love it that 18-19mph is feeling relaxed.
We then went to the fresh market for some greens :-) and gluten free foods. I have been suffering from major stomach issues for awhile and after reading about gluten intolerances this may be my problem. We will see if it works.
Great day with my mom. I can't express how blessed I am to have such an amazing mother. She is my best friend and I love days like this with her.
Now, the rest of the day I am going to spend with coffee and watching movies. Relaxing these legs!!!:-)

Friday!!!
I wasn't feeling well last night, so I slept in. Felt pretty bad at school today too. I still went to workout. Here it goes:
5 minutes on spin bike
6.3 on the treadmill...
1 mile 7:47 mile 2 7:40 mile 3 7:35 mile 4 7:29 mile 4.5 7:19 from 4.5 on I was sub 7. For the last 12 minutes I cut back every minute. I got down pretty low 6 pace. I felt so relaxed. I want to just bang out some killer workouts but I know speed work and hill work are not good for my foot. I felt it a little around mile 3 but it wasn't sharp and sometimes I feel I may be being too paranoid. No real soreness after. I got in 6.3 in 46 minutesz.
Then hit my leg exercises:
5x15 prone leg curls
5x20 leg ext.
3x15 1 leg squats
Had to cut it short because I had places to be. Zuki and icemans game with my love and friends!!
Tomorrow...
Functional with the mother and hopefully some form of cardio. Focusing on arms tomorrow because legs are shot!

She is sticking to it and killing it. She just workout with a semi pro football player and a crazy maniac workout woman, hehe. Great family bonding time!

1-18-2011...
Decided to sleep in til 5. This was a very good idea! My foot was pretty swollen last night so I decided to rest it this morning and ice it some more. I believe the soreness came from me tackling my boyfriend for doing something silly. I remember pushing off barefoot with that toe and felt a pain. So lots of ice and ibuprofen should get that swelling back down.
School was good, dibeled and TRCed all day. It's a slow day but I don't mind testing the students and getting to see their progress! YAY!
GYM TIME!! Decided to tape my foot to keep it from moving before my run on the treadmill. Well, a half mile in I stopped and took it off. It was actually causing more pain. I am now re-thinking what this could be on my foot?! After I got it off, I hopped on and kept going 1 mile at 7:50, half mile at 7, half mile at 7:40, 1 mile 6:50, half mile at 7:40, a mile at 6:50 and half mile at 7:30 and then a cool down at 8:00. No foot pain. Felt relaxed and was carrying on a conversation during the whole thing. In all, 5.92 miles...silly number but stopped at time. I am trying so hard not to push. I just feel so fit right now.
I met an old client to put her through a spin class. It wasn't a true spin class by she had never been on a spin bike so I eased her into it. It was 65 min. Of rolling hill and sprints. It felt like a decent workout.
On a side note, Tough Mudder Indiana is moved to June 16th and I am in a wedding that weekend in Florida. Talk about timing. I'm a little upset that I now may have to wait until October for the next closest one. Unless anyone is willing to travel with me this summer?!?!

4:30 am...SWIM
Just keep swimming...just keep swimming swimming. Well, I did get up and out the door to make it to the gym at 5 am just to hop in a cold pool. Brrr! However, I think I saw every hour of the night. No sleep?! Ahhh. Anyways, did not feel great getting into the pool. I feel very fatigued but I just kept swimming. I got in a good hour of a solid swim. The. Went straight to work. Had a good day at school as well. Then came home to put on a functional training class with my mom using bosu, trx, kettle bells, free weights and body weights. It was 1 hr and 20 minutes with no rest! Proud of her for doing it. Decent training day...:-)

1-16-2012
Did a tough workout on the bike. First 15 minutes averaged a moderate 17 mph then killed it. Finished 20.1 miles in an hour. I was working. I added in major hills and speed work. This was done on a stationary bike opposed to spin bike. I feel like the spin bike is sometimes easier when it comes to miles. I then put in a moderate 10 at about 19 then went slow for a cool down. Got in about 36 miles on the bike. Was going to lift but I am pretty beat. Going to spend the rest of my day with my boy then tomorrow it's back to reality. Swimming is a top priority this week. Also, I have a few functional training sessions planned with my mother. It pretty cool to have a trx, bosu, and weights to put one on in the house. I can't wait!!

Run day!!
Nervous about the foot. Still not as much pain but I still get nervous. 15 min on bike easy as a warm up. 5.5 miles starting at 7:50 working down to 6:45. Felt strong. Then got on the spin bike for about 30 min. Felt my foot once. I was pleased with this run. Time for more football now...go packers... Well I'm writing this a day late so boooo packers too.
I am loving spending time with my boo. Also, went to church this am. I love God!! I am currently doing the K love challenge. Nothing but Christian music. This doesn't even phase me. The music lifts you up, even during workouts. I have been using Pandora Christian hits and I love it. Trying to use some of my workout time to praise God. I feel sometimes working out takes too much priority out of my life.

Olympic Trials
Cardio day!! 30 miles on the indoor bike then 20 slow minutes on the elliptical. Watched the Olympic trials and wow...motivation. The things these athletes have overcome and pushed through gives me hope. I averaged about a 18-19 on the bike the first hour was 19 mph then slowed up to a more comfortable pace the next 10 miles. Went to Haubstadt tonight for a healthy dinner and football. It was good to spend time with my family. However, we all fell asleep during the game. Boo... to the Broncos; I was bummed.

No delay! Boooo!! Oh well, had another good day with first graders!! They are just the sweetest, sometimes needy but sweet!
Went to the gym after school. 30 min on the elliptical, this made my foot a little sore. Then did about a 45 min back circuit workout. Little to no rest and switched between heavy weights and light weights. Then I hopped on the bike only wanting to go a half hour but oops, went an hour and got in 19.1. Now it is time to start a 3 day weekend with my love!

It's snowing! 1/12/12
I had a good day at school. Worked with first grade all day, and it is good to see some innocence in the students. I keep telling myself if I can't just make a difference in a few I have done my job. These kids sometimes drive me to almost insanity, but then I stop myself, what are they really going through? It is a lot that I couldn't even handle as a 25 year old let alone 6-12 years of age. They are just seeking approval, attention and love. I need to continue to remind myself of that to better myself as a teacher.
I also signed up for wander Indiana with three other teachers today. It goes for several months and the winner goes to the team with the most miles. You get miles in many different ways. Mile for mile on running, biking, swimming, and what the elliptical trainer reads as mileage or any equipment for that matter. You also get miles for circuit training and classes. It will be fun and exciting and keep me continually motivated. I had to be weighed in and measured and I do not like this. I try not to get on the scale because I can become obsessive with it and that is not healthy. I go by the fit of my clothes because my muscle tone changes for what I am training for. However, I was pleased where my weight was so it wasn't a disaster, haha. It was a little lower than I thought but my cardio is up pretty high for this time of the year plus I have stopped lifting heavy.
Ok enough venting, I went to the gym after school. I was motivated to workout and nervous to test my foot. I started with 15 minutes on the bike then hopped on the tread and ran 5.25 miles at 7:45 pace. This felt very relaxed and easy and never felt my foot. Hmmmmmmm, taking it easy may actually help with recovery?! Its only taken me 5 years. I wanted to go longer but that wouldn't be smart...remember SMART TRAINING! After my run, I got back on the bike for 30 minutes. I felt good today and am excited about my foot. Maybe I shouldn't have dissed the treadmill. It is obviously giving me the slight cushion my foot needs. I am on day 9 of new shoes and orthodics. They say it takes about two weeks for the pain to go away. It probably would be totally gone right now if I would have taken complete time but it is getting better.
I am also excited for an evening with my family with coffee Grey's and Private Practice...and okay I can't lie... I want a snow day! I'm a child at heart!

1/11/12... Forced Training
If I am going to call myself a Triathlete I must follow through with training. Triathlon is three not two! I made myself get into the pool after work. I was cold and did not want to put on a swimsuit and get in water, but I did. I am so happy I did. I swam 30 minutes at easy to moderate pace. Then I did 5x100 free with 45 seconds rest. Note: I don't do flip turns...I need to learn. Anyways I went 1:50,1:48,1:46,1:44,& 1:41. I am not a swimmer and took about a year or more off of any pool work. I remember doing repeats like this and they were usually 1:45's so I am actually happy with this workout. Anytime you get faster, that's good...right?! I was feeling motivated so I then got on the spin bike and did a spin workout. I was on there for about 70 minutes. Lots of sprinting and rolling hills! Felt good but I am starving!!!! My boyfriend had a meeting tonight so I had to eat alone. Bummer... Happy with training. I am going to try a treadmill run tomorrow. Foot is still making progress!
On a side note, I finally have clip in pedals on my bike!!! Looks the weather now may keep me off the road a bit but I can't wait to see how fast I will be able to go now!!! Yay!!

Rest Day...
For me, these days stink but I know they are crucial. I literally forced myself not to workout at all. However, my body is a bit over trained and I think this is why I continually get these pains that make me stop. I want these pains to stop so I have to train smart and listen to my body. Listen?! HA! Those who know me know that is not something I'm good at. I mean come on, I am a teacher people listen to me...haha:-)I haven't been able to train for more than 2 months at a time without an injury for two years. I want to be able to reach my potential, in which I don't know that I ever did even in college. I was forced out by an injury going into my last seasons and never got the opportunities to hit my PRs.
I got some things done today and got to just relax...that really never happens. I also got my paperwork in for the sponsorship and should be featured on their site by the end of the month. I want to represent 3 disciplines racing with the best of my ability and I have to be healthy to do that. They're a great team and put on some great races. They are located out of Michigan but bring some triathlons to our area. Check them out at www.3disciplines.com

Who gets excited for 5 am runs?! Yep...Me!
I woke up and was ready to run. I need less impact so I opted for the treadmill...gross! Anyways, it is less impact and I can keep my run under control instead of turning it into a tempo, this is what I'm known for. I got in 4.1 right at a 7:50 pace. Felt very very easy and relaxed. Felt my foot once and it was just dull. Hoping it's going to be okay. After my run, I did a leg workout.
5x20 prone leg curls
5x20 leg extensions
5x20 squats with 20 lb kettle bells
Adduction/abduction 5x20 each
Very short but got the general legs in. I didn't feel my foot walking around so we will see how it does being on it the rest of the day. I am a little nervous...goal is to have another workout this evening but it all depends on how I feel.
Well, foot doesn't feel too bad. Met Andrew and we got my retirement fund set up. Wahoo. Then we went to the gym. I did an hour of cycling with lots of rolling hills and then did core work.

I was up a little later than I am use to. I was tired and lethargic today. These days always seem to fall on days my boyfriend works his 24 shift...I don't feel as motivated lol. Well I finally mustard up the energy to go on a ride. It was windy and a lot harder than what I thought it would be. I got in 34.5 and I was finished. My foot bothered me a little. I need to get my clip ins put on my bike!! Disappointed in myself for not getting in the water to swim!! This is my weak point and I need to get on it and focus! 5 am workout tomorrow! Yay!

Slept in this morning. Had protein pancakes and chocolate covered raspberry coffee that my awesome boyfriend got for me. Then we got our day started. He ran his many errands while I stayed and cleaned things up and cleaned out the highlander. He then came back and we finished running errands together. Came back home and fixed lunch together.
We went to the gym a little later than we wanted but that's okay. I did a cardio circuit of 700 reps.

Well... The alarm went off at 4:30 and I decided to go back to sleep...oops:-) but sometimes you have to listen to your body, plus I know I will have time to workout this evening. I ended up seeing I had a new email and I checked it out of habit. I was selected to be one of 10 athletes to be sponsored by 3 Disciplines Racing for this year. They picked 5 males and 5 females. I sent in my application on a limb, not really thinking I would get it but why not try. The application wanted to know your history and goals within racing. They also like to know what you do for a living and ect. I believe they really liked my discipline and hard work and the story about how I progressed through college. They also like the variety of races I do, especially the off road races. I am very excited about this opportunity, thus my race plans have changed for this year. Possibly moving tough mudder back because of my foot. I still plan to get one in! I am hoping they post Nashvilles date soon. I am honored to have this opportunity and I am going to start my training SMART... No more injuries. The foot still bothers me some but the orthodics are helping tremendously...thanks to SWIFT athletics.

Sleep in :-)
Sleeping til 5 feels so much better than 4:30:-) I decided to just workout in the evening today. I launched a new literacy program for our k-2 grade students and it went well, I am excited about this. I didn't have my bike at Andrews so I got on the spin bike and ended up spinning for 2 hours:-) feeling good. I then came home to have dinner with my boy and then I went for some ice cream...ooooops! I want to try to run tomorrow...I don't know if I should or not...???

Another great am swim. I got in an hour, pushed a little harder because I had someone swimming by me. Very happy with myself for getting in there 3 time within 4 days! This is huge. I am feeling some 100 m workouts coming this weekend!
I planned to lift again this evening but decided against it. Andrew and I had date night...aka: grocery shopping and ran some other errands. I have been crazy busy at school I was exhausted. I also got new shoes and orthotics...foot feels better in these shoes by a lot. I may try a run this weekend....very short and relaxed.

I have a better chance getting in the pool in the mornings compared to after school. I obviously need to be off my foot so swimming is my best choice. I felt strong again this morning. I still have ALOT of work to do to get back in the swimming shape I was in 2 years ago. I plan to be in the pool at least 3 times a week. I want to run so badly, it honestly is killing me but this is what my body needs.
I am planning a second workout this afternoon...
Did back this afternoon smashed back for about an hour non stop! Rock on :-)

I FINALLY got in the pool! I am so proud of myself. I haven't swam indoors since May. And to be honest I could probably count on my fingers the number of swimming training sessions I had in 2011. Not a good sign of a triathlete huh? Well, I did it. I did 1 hour without stopping. Kept a relaxed pace and just got the feel of my stroke again which isn't that great. :-) afterwards, I did some light legs.

Got to be woke up by my boyfriend... Always the best :-) I am still pretty bummed about my foot...probably stressing about it too much. I went ahead and went on a bike ride for 30 miles. It was windy but I got in a decent ride. No foot pain after. Hopefully the inflammation is decreasing.
I am so blessed with many things that came in 2011...
My soul mate who has completely changed my life. I love Andrew with all my heart.
I got into the profession I was meant to have...a teacher.
I have a blessed family who puts up with me within all my many up and downs.
Things to work on for 2012...
My faith in God.

I was having a bum of a day and I don't even know why. Well, sort of, I am pretty bummed about my foot. From my research it seems like a case of sesamoiditis. Hopefully I can get it under control. Using ice,mibuprofen, topical gel, and taping with pads. I had to do something though so I went to the gym and elliptical for 30 minutes, rowed a fast 1000 meters and cycled for 11.5 miles.This was just over an hour of cardio and I couldn't get my heart rate elevated. I think I need to do some serious re-thinking to my training. I am having too many over-training symptoms. I can't help it, it's what I want to do. However, I can only do what I want if I am healthy.
I am blessed to have an amazing boyfriend who makes me realize all the other blessings of my life. My workouts and performances do not make me who I am. I am so blessed to have him in my life.
